Casa do Povo de Ribeira do Neiva (CPRN) was founded on September 14, 1943, in Ribeira do Neiva.
Initially, during the "Estado Novo" regime, this association was intended to contribute to the economic and social development of local community, as well as to ensure professional representation and protection of agricultural workers.
The 80's mark the beginning of a new era for CPRN, emphasizing its role in social and cultural development. CPRN is no longer focussing on agricultural workers and farmers and at this stage the main social care services emerged, such as the After-school Activities Center, the Residential Care Home and the Domiciliary Care.
In the 90's the social care services kept going and we started to build a new facility to improve the quality of our services. So, in 2001, we moved to the brand new House where the headquarters and all main services have been alocated until today.
In 2001 we reached more people by improving our services and increasing our responsiveness to people's needs. The early 21st century also brought new challenges and cultural activities: traditional trade fairs, where locals had the opportunity to sell their homemade products; Cultural events: theater performances, musicals, Christmas Market, classical music concerts, summer camps, children's day and elderly's day celebration, among other public events.
Last decade represents an improvement and breakthrough of CPRN's intervention, becoming the executive institution of many social care projects.
With work in partnership with the various local and national institutions and organizations, CPRN began to develop social care projects in all over Vila Verde district (Ribeira do Neiva included).
Today CPRN has an important role not only in Ribeira do Neiva but in all Vila Verde district, being the provider of many social projects such as "RLIS" and "CLDS-4G Vila Verde".
